WEST VANCOUVER — Dr. Mehdi Russel, a medical doctor and entrepreneur, was acclaimed the BC NDP candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano at a nomination meeting on February 4. Russel says it’s time for a government that will fix what matters to people.

“Under Christy Clark, people are paying more and getting less,” said Mehdi. “It’s time for a government that champions the things people care about. The BC NDP has a plan to improve our health care, seniors’ care and protect our environment.”

“Mehdi Russel brings a unique experience and a strong voice to the issues that matter to people in West Vancouver,” said BC NDP Leader John Horgan. “He has what it takes to help build a better BC.”

Before immigrating to Canada in 2008, Russel was a medical doctor who worked to establish universal national health coverage in Iran before moving to the UK to pursue his MBA and PhD in public health and work in international health policy. An active member of Vancouver’s business community, Russel runs a consulting company that supports small- and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies in their international marketing and sales.
